Therapeutic Riding: How it Works
Horseback riding engages the rider in three main areas: physical, cognitive, and emotional, and uses these related forms of therapy in conjunction with the horse's three-dimensional hip movement to transfer motion to the rider that is similar to the walking gait of a human. Horses are the best, most forgiving teachers and often help to bridge a social, physical, or cognitive gap to the outside world to foster independence, self-confidence, and improved spirits.
